Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup butter softened
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups finely chopped cashews
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Instructions
In large bowl combine all ingredients except cashews. Blend well with mixer. Stir in cashews; mix thoroughly. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. (I like my lightly browned, when the edges first start to brown.)

Personal history behind this recipe:
I found this recipe in a book while living in Virginia in 1972. Chuck and I had just married he was just coming home from Vietnam and only a few months away from getting out of the army. This tiny apartment was close to Ft. Lee, VA.
It took some getting used to being away from home and surrounded by army families. This cute little pixie doll lived in the apartment next door. She was the sunshine in my day. That and my love of cooking.
