Apple Pie
Granny Smith Apples
Pillsbury Easy Ready Made Pie Crust
(For those times when you are in a hurry)
Pie Shield
(I have an Electrolux Oven and can't use aluminum foil)

I had to sneak a piece while it was still hot!
Today is my birthday so I had pie before I had lunch...
pretty good too I might add. Then kids threw a party and fed me cake...look out hips...

RECIPE
Ingredients
Pastry for 9" Double Crust Pie Crust
6 cups peeled, sliced apples
1 tablespoon lemon juice
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg

Instructions:
Preheat Oven to 450 degrees
Make pastry
Line pie pan with crust, prick with lots of fork marks to prevent crust from bubbling up...
Combine apples and lemon juice in a large mixing bowl
Add sugars, flour, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg to apples
mixing good.
place evenly in pie pan
dot with butter across the top
cover with top crush and shape edges or make fork marks pressing pie crusts together or you can use the tines of a fork.
Cut an X in center of crust and 5 to 6 slits around top of crust for steam to escape.
Cover edges of pie crust with strips of aluminum foil or use a shield like I did
Bake at 450 for 15 minutes
Turn oven down to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 25 minutes.

Cool on rack
Enjoy!
