Sloppy Joseph's or Joes

My sweet & a little spicy Sloppy Joes

My girls always liked Sloppy Joes and yes they had a Manwich or two growing up too. They called them Sloppy Josephs'.
Did you know they used to call it a "Loose Meat Sandwich"?  They did  and it's most basic, the Joe is a sandwich made with ground beef and tomato sauce.  Some say the original Sloppy Joe was made in an Iowa cafe by an man named Joe in the 1930s.
Wherever it got it's name and start a good ole Sloppy Joe can be quite tasty at times.  I chose to add peppers and diced tomatoes with green chilies for a little kick.  If you want more of a kick add more chilies, chili powder and hot sauce.

Ingredients

1 1/2 Lbs Angus Ground Chuck
1 Tbs. good olive oil like Fratelli Carli Olio Carli
1 can 10 oz. Rotel Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies
2 whole cloves garlic chopped
1 medium yellow onion chopped
1 small bell pepper chopped
1-Empty Rotel Can water
1/2 cup ketchup
Dash or two of Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. chili powder (or to your liking)
1 whole bay leaf
Cook short while then taste
Add salt and red or black pepper to taste
Optional Add a few drops of hot sauce if you wish.
Add 1 Tbs. good honey like Fratelli Carli MIELE DI ACACIA
The honey just gives it a great taste and I like it better than adding sugar.

Instructions

Brown Ground Chuck in pot with olive oil and Drain.  Add the rest of the ingredients.  Heat until boiling then turn down to medium.  Leave the lid off of pot for approximately 10 minutes this will cook out some of the liquid and thicken some.   Cover pot and turn down the heat so it will be on a high simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
You can keep the Sloppy Joes warm on low to keep warm for at least an hour.

Serve on buns with sides of your choice.

Enjoy!
