Thanksgiving Traditional Menu

 Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
An assortment of recipes
The Brown Sugar Pineapple Baked Smoked Ham is the most requested recipe I have ever had on the entire Hibiscus House Family of Blogs.  That is the reason for the large pic instead of the turkey.  One note the recipe is not for a fresh nor a country ham but for the smoke wet cured ham found in most groceries.

I'm sure you are busy like me trying to get the menu down, the ingredients needed, the cleaning of the house on and on etc.  It is one of the most fun times of the year when you, friends and family gather together for fellowship, food and enjoyment.  Whether you will be a part of a big crowd or dining simply make a delicious meal to enjoy for the day just because we are blessed to do so!
I am thankful for so many things and you my friends are at the top of the list.  Join me today as I go through the archives for recipes to share and be a handy guide for you to find when cooking.

 Turkey and Ham

The Baked Turkey in the top photo was baked by Carly.  It was one that she brined and was so delicious!  There are a number of recipes on the internet to show you how to do this.
I personally don't have much luck wet brining I like to Dry Brine mine in the refrigerator for a day or so.  We will have Carly's and my turkey both this year!

I ordered an organic turkey flash frozen and shipped to me in a few days.  I can't wait to cook this beauty and share with you.
Carly baked the Spiral Cut Ham with pineapple cherries pictured above.  She is a wiz at baking those and again I am not.  I love hers but dry mine out basically every time.
I bake my old stand by a wet cured ham.  The recipe below is one of the most asked for on this blog.  It is a very delicious ham.  I have it every Easter and sometimes on Thanksgiving with the turkey.

The trick with frozen turkeys is no trick at all.  Defrost it in the refrigerator in plenty of time to season and bake 3 to 4 days is sufficient. You don't want to be rushing to thaw a huge bird~ freezing your fingers to the bone just to get the giblets out of the bird.  You may ask how I know that and I'll tell you I remember doing it for so many years!

SIDES

My Own Southern Cornbread Dressing Recipe HERE
A must have side!
One of my recipes for a side dish that gets requested most on the blogs!

My Dressing as we call it here in the South would be a cornbread stuffing for some in other parts of the country.  I may try my hand at some "Yankee" white bread stuffing with a little help from my mother in law who learned it from her mother in law in Pennsylvania.  We'll see and if it is successful I'll share with you.
