Easy Baked Beans

How do you like my frog baker?  Carly gave me this beauty.

Spring and Summer can be very busy times.  I'll be posting a few old fashioned recipes that are in my very old recipe boxes.  Some of these are so simple and maybe even more full of sugar and fats than I cook with now.  I know that's hard to believe.  Every now and then I want something from the past....I was young newly married and to top it off working full time for the first time.  It's funny to see how we change over the years.  Now I would probably cook dried beans then add things to bake them...then it was all about easy, quick and full of calories....So Today I share with you (very) Easy Baked Beans recipe from the 70's...

Ingredients

2 cans Pork & Beans
1 tsp. prepared yellow mustard
3 Tbsp. dark brown sugar
2 dashes black pepper
4-6 pieces very lean bacon
1 tsp. bacon drippings

Instructions

Fry the bacon lightly, drain and save the 1 tsp. drippings.  Place all ingredients except bacon into a 2qt or more baking pan.  Mix then lay bacon on top of beans.  Place in 350 degree oven and bake 20-30 minutes until bubbly hot.

4-6 Servings
Good with hot dogs, grilled foods.
