Sarrio's Spaghetti Sauce From Cookin' Isn't A Crime

This is an old recipe from many years ago that my husband put into a cookbook for the police force he was working with. The name of the cookbook is "Cookin' Isn't A Crime".  It is full of recipes that I'm going to try.  This recipe is quick and easy to put together and then you can simmer for hours if you wish.  It adds a special touch to a purchased sauce.  Chuck says use only Ragu because Prego and other spaghetti sauces are just not the same.

Ingredients

1 jar Ragu chunky sauce
1/8 c Rhine wine
1 lb. hamburger
1/2 lb. ground Italian sausage
Garlic powder
1/4 lb. pepperoni
Olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
Garlic salt to taste

Directions

Simmer Ragu sauce, Rhine wine and sprinkle garlic powder over the top .  Saute onions and bell peppers in olive oil. Drain and add to sauce.  Chop pepperoni and add to sauce.  Brown Italian sausage and hamburger with salt, pepper and garlic powder.  Drain and add to sauce.  Add garlic salt to taste.  The longer you simmer the better.  Serve over spaghetti noodles.

He now adds minced garlic and mushrooms to this recipe.

The family has enjoyed this sauce for years!

Chuck also has another sauce that I shared last year.  It is a made from scratch sauce that we have a lot here at home.  You can find that recipe Here
The name probably gives it away but we do like tomato sauces and pasta in this household.
Speaking of the name the true spelling is Saraiocco from his great grandfather.  He came to America in 1900 they called him "Pap"

Enjoy!
