Good morning. How many of you out there drink coffee?
While having my morning coffee and reading email Facebook etc. I saw this below.
The article was shared by a friend today and it seemed fitting to share because many of us do drink coffee, use sugar etc.
Don't panic. But there's a global coffee shortage
Read the entire article and you will also learn that this also applies to sugar.
story from The Washington Post here
Have any of you paid much attention to the prices in the grocery stores? Yes, I know they have been slowly rising for awhile now.
The packaging is smaller or they disguise the same package with a bag inside half to 3/4 full of air. Note if you can remember the old sizes of products.
The economy, well I don't have to go into that do I? We are all suffering in some form or another because of it.
This is not a "doomsday" or a "The Sky is Falling" kind of post only a warning to stock up on the products you use in your home. Products that will of course have a good shelf life. Products that you can fill your freezer with, can, dehydrate. Whatever the means stock and save as never before.
I don't mean be an extreme hoarder!
Stock what you can use for your family or give to friends and family should the need arise. In other words "DON'T STOCK TO ROT" stock for use or giving.
More recently I have noticed that the same amount of things I normally buy are costing what seems to be Double!

The beef prices have taken a huge upward spiral in price and in some places quality.
I suggest that you find yourself a good meat market that deals in good quality meat and pay very little extra for something that has been raised a little better and has great taste. No pink slime for me if I know about it and can do something about it. Black Angus is the best that I can do not raising cattle myself.
Childress Smokehouse
I remember my grandparents raising there own and filling their freezers or smokehouses at the time and my parents' too of course. There was never the worry of where the food was going to come from. People were more self sufficient. They grew their own meat and vegetables. Had of course their own beef, pork, chicken and Grandma Cora made the best butter for miles around. As a child I remember her churning and molding that butter with her beautiful hands. People coming by on a weekly basis to get her butter. They had the right idea and were self sufficient!
Hams look mighty good.
However, since I don't have that much of the old time farmer in me; don't grow but a few vegetables and can't possibly eat Spot, or Motley....chickens...they are my pets. Guess I'll just have to buy for now from the best sources for best quality and stock up before another price hike. I'll store in the ways that I know and you should too.
Pay attention to this also: Wheat Products are going to soar!
I hope you have a good productive rest of the week and weekend.
Now go bake a loaf of bread!
Like this beautiful loaf my friend Michelle baked the other day.
