Making 1 Gallon Liquid Laundry Detergent




I thought I would share this even though I haven't made or used it yet.
I can however say that the Octagon Soap if you can find it cleans really well.

Ingredients and Tools
You will need:

Funnel/spoon/pot
1  1/2 gallon empty container with lid 
1 gallon water
1/2 cup Octagon grated
1/3 cup Borax 
1/3 cup Super Washing Soda

Put a quart or so of water in a saucepan on stove at medium heat
Add the 1/2 cup grated Octagon Soap stirring until melted
Add the Washing Soda and the Borax
Stirring to dissolve still on medium heat for at least 1 minute.
Mixture will thicken

Pour most of the leftover water (I reserve a little to rinse out the funnel) into your empty container
Use a funnel being careful pour hot soap mixture into the container then pour remaining water through funnel to rinse clean and get most of the soap mixture out of funnel.

Place lid on container and shake really well.
Sit undisturbed for 24 hours before use.
Important Label to know what is in this container and for safety's sake.

Use 1/2 cup to laundry depending on size and dirtiness of laundry
I don't know about HE Washers, use your own judgement.

    contains
    ingredients include: Sodium Dodecylbenzene Sulfonate, Pentasodium Triphosphate, and Crystalline Silica. 
    Lemon grass and coconut oil
    so not completely natural that is for sure, but it has been around over 100 years and was first made as a laundry soap before the invention of washing machines.  It is very versatile that is where it comes in handy.
    My daddy worked on cars in those day he actually rebuilt them after an accident.  His hands got quite dirty so I remember him using the Octagon and Lava Soaps to clean his hands.

    I will review this later after using.
