PRODUCT REVIEW: Chef Remi Digital Cooking Thermometer

I was approached by Chef Remi recently and asked if I would consider trying his new product.  I thought about it for about a minute and agreed.  A good thermometer is a must have for cooking and even better when you find one that performs well.  This product does indeed perform well!

Upon opening package

  • The product arrived quickly and was packaged very securely.  I was impressed with the sturdy case.  It has an easy open cap which also closes securely.  I love the blue satin ribbon for hanging.  It also makes for easy removing from a drawer.
  • Inside this case are a few instructions.  The one thing I was not 100% happy with was that the printing was extremely small.  It would be nice if they were a little larger for we (shall we say a little older ladies).  I put on my reading glasses and it was fine.

Sharp and quick with temperature measurement.
  • The probe is thin and sharp which makes it easy to use.  That is a good thing for using but should be kept out of small hands.  I like the fact when I tested my roasts etc that when the thermometer was inserted it didn't leave a large hole behind.

  • Easy to read LCD Display.
  • This Product is Very Versatile:  You can use it on meats, fish, casseroles, re-heated foods, breads, cakes, deep frying and candy.
  •  There are four buttons on the thermometer.
    1.  Top Left: On/Off Switch
    2.  Top Right: Hold Button:
This button is used if you want to know what the temp was when you last checked.  It will keep that   temp until you check it a short while within 10 minutes anyway.  You can press the hold button twice and it will begin giving you the present temperature.  It makes for even quicker results in temp.
** I really like this feature!
        3.  Bottom Left: C or F Choice Button: Self explanatory really:  You have a choice as to Celsius or Fahrenheit.  Just press the button for your choice.
        4.  Bottom Right:  Max/Min Temp Button

              • Temperature Range:  -50--+300 degrees C  or  -58--+572 degrees F
              •  Product comes with a battery
Replacement battery would be an LR44, an alkaline 1.5 V battery.  The most equivalent batteries are: AG13, L1154 or the LR1154.
              • There is a 10 minute auto shutdown to prevent the battery from losing it's power too soon.  I like that feature!
              • Hand Wash the probe tip only, dry and place back in protective case.
              • LIFETIME GUARANTEE
              Checking water temp
I really enjoyed using this to get the correct temperature of my water while making bread.  We all know how important it is to get just the right temp when activating yeast.  It worked great!  I used the hold button and removed thermometer.  The water was too hot so I checked a short while later hit the hold button twice and pulled up the correct temp, very quickly.

TIP** Insert thermometer into food wait 5-10 seconds and Then turn the thermometer on!  This makes for a quicker temp check.
